Alex Dmitrienko, BISUG founder
I would like to thank everybody who attended my May 11 webinar
("Using SAS Software in the Design of Clinical Trials")
in which I discussed the role of SAS tools (SAS macros and
Enterprise Guide custom tasks) in clinical trial applications.
The archived version of the webinar (slides and audio) will
be available on the webinar's
web page. In the meantime, I have received several requests
to share my slides. You can download the presentation
in a PDF format.
By the way, my webinar was the third webinar in the four-part
series organized by SAS Press. The last webinar in the
series will be given by Kirk Lafler on May 25. To sign-up
for that webinar, you need to visit the registration
page (registration is free).

The target audience for this course, Creating
Basic Reports using SAS Web Report Studio, is the Business
Analyst who could have little or no SAS programming experience.
The focus is creating basic and advanced reports quickly
and easily, using the SAS Web Report Studio, from pre-defined
data sources using a common user interface. Finally, a way
of extracting the required data and building customized
SAS reports without having to write a line of code!
The objective of this course is to give individual lessons
to provide a good base knowledge in creating a new report
using three main steps:
1. Select a report tool (Manual, Wizard, or Predefined template).
2. Select data.
3. Design a report layout.
The course contains 42 pages of lessons including slideshows,
simulated software and course text, with SAS suggesting
that it will take about 3 hours to complete. I found that
without rushing through the material this class took approximately
two hours and that I had given myself ample time to absorb
all the detailed aspects covered in the material.
It is built to the same style and quality as other E-Learning
courses offered by the SAS. Whether you select manual, wizard
or predefined template, you are soon easily navigating the
intuitive menu structure to select, filter and report the
required data in a tabular and or graphical format for each
objective task lesson.
I found that with the very common look and feel of the menus
or wizard I was soon confident defining new reports. With
the interspersed practices and occasional short quizzes
at the end of a each learning section the participant is
given a great way of reviewing and familiarizing them self
with the tool usage. My newly gained self-confidence enabled
me to create a new detailed report that could be saved and
reused by other people with a few clicks of the mouse.
This kind of course can be covered thoroughly at a very
affordable price, and the time scales that you are given
to complete the course material are great as it allows you
to start and stop around the normal daily job routine, this
means that training does not have to be neglected.
This course would be very useful for all levels of experienced
professional from Business analysts to Executives, at last
a piece of intuitive software that will allow personnel
from all levels of the corporate scale to access, and report
their data easily.
